MovieCaptioner accepts MP4, MOV, M4V, and MP3 files natively. Find your video on your hard drive and click 'Open'. Click 'Load Movie' in the top left corner of the screen. Note: line breaks should reflect the natural flow of the sentence and its punctuation. Play the video and type the transcript. In order to keep your captions to one line they should be no longer than 54 characters in length. Adjust the size of the windows so that you can see both the video player and the text editor. Click 'Playback' and adjust the Playback Speed to suit your typing speed (0.35 is a good starting point). Start by opening your video in a video player, such as VLC. The fastest way to create captions is by creating a text transcript of the video and then use MovieCaptioner to set the timecodes for each line of text.
